A prank is a trick that is deliberately played on someone with the aim of making them feel foolish or victimized for the purpose of humor. Pranks are typically lighthearted and the victim is let in on the joke before anything serious happens to him/her or right when he/she begins to despair.
There are many good practical jokes out there as you will find if you check out a few of the prank websites on the internet. If you want to play a prank on someone however, make sure the prank is appropriate for your relationship with the person and that no one gets hurt in the process. Here we will look at a few of the lighthearted, really funny pranks out there.
A good prank to try is the one carried out by Waldo Pierce. While living in Paris Pierce gave a small turtle to a woman in his building. The woman was very fond of the turtle and a few days later Pierce substituted the turtle for a slightly bigger one. He continued to do this for quite some time with bigger and bigger turtles and the woman proudly displayed her turtle and how quickly he was growing. Pierce then began to replace the turtle with smaller and smaller ones much to the woman’s distress; this prank was the basis for the 1990 children’s novel Esio Trot.
Another funny prank is to go onto a coworker’s computer before he/she arrives at work and use Microsoft Word’s ‘Auto Correct’ feature to change simple words into something else. For instance tell ‘Auto Correct’ to change ‘the’ to ‘monkey’ or something like that. Now every time the word ‘the’ is typed it will change to ‘monkey’; this should be good for quite a few laughs before your coworker realizes what is happening.
A funny and easy prank to try is the invisible rope prank. Some people do this prank on a not so busy road or in an area where a lot of people are walking by, the location is entirely up to you. Here is what you do. With the help of a friend stand on either side of the road or walkway and act as if you are pulling opposite ends of a small string. A lot of people will step over the invisible string even though they cannot see it and cars will also stop if you do this on a road. You can try this trick at any time of day but evening hours are best when it is getting dark and it is harder for people to see if you are really pulling something or not.
